My Commitment to our Students' Future

I don’t represent any person or any group's agenda. I am running for the Wake County Board of Education because I truly feel that my skills and LIFE experiences can make a difference for our students. I’ve made a commitment to our children’s future.

Now the decision is in your hands.

Please vote for Lois Nixon for School Board on October 6.

I am committed to make the Board of Education more family-friendly so that

-siblings attend school on the same calendar schedule, and
-students attend only one school in middle and high school,
with minimal moves for elementary students.

Election Campaign Signs vs. Cary’s Appearance

When someone who helped add an election sign component to the state litter ordinance files for public office, they receive a handout about compliance with the state litter ordinance. That’s a good feeling!

Contact:          Lois Nixon, 919-228-1546

Today, educator and award-winning community leader Lois Nixon announced her candidacy for the Wake County School Board in District 9. In giving her reasons for filing Nixon pointed to her strong record of professional and volunteer service to the community. “In the 30 years that I have lived in Cary, I have worked with countless neighbors, friends and organizations to make our community a better place for all citizens.”

Why I'm running for the Wake County Board of Education

Innovative Leadership
I have lived in Cary for 30 years and have always worked with others to make it a better place. During this time, Cary has grown into one of the best communities in the country to call home. This took community leadership and careful planning.

Now the Wake County Board of Education is in need of new and innovative leadership that will redirect the Board’s primary focus back to student achievement and learning.  I am running for the Board because I believe that I can provide this leadership and help Cary to be an important part of planning for the next decade.  This continues my lifetime commitment to educational excellence in my profession and as a volunteer for our schools. Our schools have been an important part of our community’s success and growth. My two sons graduated from the Wake County Public School System, and my two grandchildren will soon be entering the school system, so I have a personal as well as a professional interest in preserving and improving the quality of Wake County Schools.
